Theatre personality, noted actor and three times National Award winner Surekha Sikri breathed her last on 16 July, 2021. Surekha was an alumunus of the prestigious National School of Drama. She is remembered for her performances in plays of noted directors including the legendary Ebrahim Alkazi. She acted in movies like Kissa Kursi Ka, Mammo, Tamas, Deham, Sardari Begum and Zubeida directed by critically acclaimed filmmakers like Shyam Benegal and Govid Nihalani. In the later part of her carreer, she was seen on various popular TV shows like Banegi Apni Baat, Just Mohabbat, Balika Vadhu and Pardes Me Hai Mera Dil. She made her comeback in movies with Ayushmann Khurrana, Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta and Sanya Malhotra starrer Badhai Ho. She won her third and final best supporting actress National award for this Amit Ravindranath Sharma directed movie. Surekha Sikri was last scene in Zoya Akhtar’s segment of Netflix anthology film Ghost Stories along with Jahanavi Kapoor and Vijay Varma.
