In this episode of Duniyadari, we will talk about the Operation momentum that was launched by CIA in Laos in 1960’s. America was losing the Vietnam war. It feared that the victory of communism in one South Asian Country could lead to a domino effect. America launched a covert operation in Laos with the help of Hmong Community. In 1975 the Vietnam war ended but Hmong were at the mercy of the Communist Government. Hence thousands of Hmong migrated to America in the 1980’s. Their present status is of a refugee community and in current political climate of USA, Hmong are seen as outsiders. Sunisa Lee, A Hmong American has won the gold in gymnastics in the ongoing Tokyo olympics. She brought a reason to cheer for Hmong community who are living as outcast citizens in America.
