The ‘golden rays of the sun herald a new dawn for Punjab’, Bhagwant Mann tweeted today morning, hours before he is to be sworn in as the next chief minister of an Aam Aadmi Party government that claimed a surprising (and dominant) win in the 2022 Assembly election. The AAP claimed 92 of 117 Assembly seats, leaving a bruised Congress with just 18 and a lot of introspection to do ahead of polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh later this year. Mann, a former comic, will replace the Congress’ Charanjit Channi as the Punjab chief minister at a ceremony scheduled to begin at 12.30 pm.
