Delhi Court Orders FIR Against Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra | Delhi Riots Case
On April 1, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court ordered the registration of an FIR against Delhi Law Minister Kapil Mishra in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots. The court stated that Mishra was present at the location during the riots, making an investigation necessary.
Petitioner Mohammad Ilyas had filed a plea in August 2024, alleging that on February 23, 2020, he saw Kapil Mishra and his supporters blocking a road in Kardampuri, vandalizing street vendors’ carts, and threatening protesters. The court deemed the case a cognizable offense and directed further investigation.
The Delhi Police has already filed FIRs against multiple individuals under severe charges, including UAPA, but no action had been taken against Kapil Mishra until now. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has questioned the impartiality of the Delhi Police in this matter.
