In this Nusa Islands Documentary I explore the three small islands southeast of Bali and their dark past.

Just a short boat ride away from Bali, the Nusas offer a completely different vibe. We uncover the deep spiritual roots of Nusa Penida — a place of exile, legends, and dark myths — before diving into turquoise waters, remote beaches, and lush mangrove forests on Lembongan and Ceningan. Whether it’s history, surfing, snorkeling with mantas, or escaping the crowds, the Nusas show a different side of Indonesia.

This Nusa Islands Travel Documentary is part four of the series Indonesia is not only Bali. With over 17,000 islands, Indonesia offers endless adventures beyond the tourist hotspots.

Therefore, my plan was to visit a number of different destinations to showcase the diversity of Indonesia to the best of my ability. In this episode, I set off to explore the Nusa Islands — to capture the full contrast between history, mythology, nature, and modern tourism, I explored the majority of the sights across all three islands, diving into the past and surfacing in the present-day island life.

You can use this Nusa Islands Documentary to plan your own trip to Nusa Penida, Lembongan, and Ceningan.
