A flood alert is active in Delhi after heavy rainfall and water released from the Hathnikund Barrage caused the Yamuna river to rise above the danger mark. The water level was recorded at 205.68 metres, exceeding the 205.33-metre danger threshold, and is expected to reach 206.50 metres. This has led to flooding in low-lying areas, including Yamuna Bazaar, where residents are navigating knee-deep water. Authorities have issued warnings and are evacuating people to relief camps set up in locations such as Mayur Vihar and Kalindi Kunj. Some residents have expressed concern over leaving their property, with one stating, “If we go, who will look after our belongings? Last time, they were stolen.” The administration continues to monitor the situation as several other areas are at risk of inundation.
