In Chakravyuh with Gaurav Sawant, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Command, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, states that peace with India is an ‘anathema to Pak generals’ as they would otherwise become irrelevant. The General Officer, speaking on the 60th anniversary of the 1965 war and in the context of ‘Operation Sindoor’, asserted that Pakistan’s military leadership has repeatedly failed in its strategic thinking from 1947 to the present. He highlighted that while the character of warfare is changing with the advent of low-cost drones making expensive platforms vulnerable, the nature of war, which involves capturing territory, remains unchanged. He affirmed that the Indian Army fights not just to protect territory but to safeguard the ‘idea of India’ and its secular, democratic values.
