The Chamber stated, “we are concerned about the impact on employees, their families and employers and we are working with the administration and our members to understand the full implications and the best path forward.” This development follows a clarification that a new one hundred thousand dollar one-time petition fee applies only to new applicants. The new rule comes into effect from midnight on the 21st of September, causing confusion among visa holders. In response to the situation, the Indian embassy has issued a helpline number to assist people and provide clarity on the new regulations.
