India’s homegrown Tejas fighter jet program receives a major boost with the delivery of the fourth GE F-404 engine to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). This development is critical for the Indian Air Force, which urgently needs new jets following the retirement of its MiG-21 fleet. The Tejas Mark 1 program, previously delayed, is now set to be fast-tracked. According to the report, “from now on, every month HAL will be receiving two engines at least so that the program is back on track.” This comes alongside a mega deal for an additional 97 Tejas Mark 1A aircraft. HAL sources have indicated that the first flight from the Nasik facility is planned for October, with three production facilities in Bengaluru and Nasik ready for rollout to equip the Indian Air Force with the pride of India.
