The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the Bihar Assembly General Elections 2025. Polling for the 243 constituencies will occur in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with vote counting on November 14. This marks a change from the 2020 elections, which were held in three phases. By-elections in other states will also take place simultaneously. The Commission introduced 17 new initiatives, including 100% webcasting at all 90,712 polling stations, mobile phone deposit facilities, and home voting for citizens over 85 and persons with disabilities. Emphasizing accessibility, the Commission stated, “The entire election machinery of Bihar is just a call away.” An electoral roll purification process and a new ‘ECI Net’ app are also part of the preparations. The Model Code of Conduct is now in effect. Political dynamics in Bihar involve the NDA and Mahagathbandhan alliances, which are yet to finalise seat-sharing. An RJD leader confirmed Tejasvi Yadav as their Chief Minister face.
