Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman defended the recent GST rate reductions, saying they are meant to benefit the people and are not a “course correction.” She criticized the Congress party, suggesting that their spokespersons should consult former finance ministers before commenting. Sitharaman highlighted that no government, including Congress, had attempted such tax reductions, emphasizing PM Modi’s direction in implementing the reform over the past 7–8 years.
