In Lucknow’s Kakori town, a shocking incident took place at the Sheetla Mata temple where a 65-year-old Dalit man, Rampal, who suffers from a respiratory illness, was beaten and forced to lick urine.
The accused, identified as Swamikant alias Pammu, accused Rampal of defiling the temple after he accidentally urinated there due to illness. He then abused him with casteist slurs, made him “purify” the place, and humiliated him in the most inhuman way. A horrifying reminder of how caste discrimination still haunts our society.
