A shocking case has emerged from Chaibasa, West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, where five children have tested HIV positive — one of them a 7-year-old thalassemia patient. The incident took place at the Chaibasa Sadar Government Hospital, sparking panic across the state.
According to an India Today report, the matter came to light on Saturday, 25 October, when the family of a thalassemia-affected child alleged that the hospital’s blood bank had transfused HIV-infected blood. Following the complaint, the Jharkhand government sent a five-member high-level medical team led by Dr. Dinesh Kumar to investigate.
