Three leaders each the founder of their own political outfit tried to carve their space in this Bihar election, but their journeys took very different turns.
Tej Pratap Yadav, the founder of Jan Shakti Janata Dal and suspended RJD leader, contested from Mahua but lost badly, finishing third with around 35,700 votes. LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh won the seat, while RJD’s Rakesh Kumar Roshan came second. The Mahua seat, once Tej Pratap’s launchpad into politics, slipped away from him this time.
I.P. Gupta, founder of the Indian Inclusive Party, entered the race from Saharsa after joining the Mahagathbandhan alliance. He’s currently leading with over one lakh votes, leaving BJP’s Alok Ranjan behind. His strong grounding among the Pan community seems to have worked in his favor.
Pushpam Priya, founder of the Plurals Party, contested from Darbhanga but could secure only 1,403 votes. BJP’s Sanjay Saraogi won, and VIP’s Umesh Sahni finished second. After her defeat, Pushpam Priya alleged EVM rigging, saying even her family’s votes were diverted.
