Laboratory tests have confirmed that contaminated drinking water caused a major vomiting–diarrhoea outbreak in Indore, leading to at least nine deaths and affecting over 1,400 people. The contamination was traced to sewage leakage in the water pipeline, triggering serious questions about civic negligence in India’s so-called cleanest city.
