On this Special Report, reporter Divyesh Singh provides details on a ground collision at Mumbai airport involving Air India and IndiGo aircraft. The incident occurred when the wing tips of both planes touched while taxiing on the runway. Divyesh Singh noted, ‘Both the aircrafts were taxiing at the time of the incident both aircrafts returned to bay after the minor collision’. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated a probe into the matter, with officials currently on-site to determine if the accident was a result of human error or technical failure. IndiGo confirmed that all passengers are safe and have disembarked, while the aircraft involved—an Air India A320 (VT-PYF) and an IndiGo A320 (VT-IFV)—undergo maintenance inspections. The report highlights that the Air India flight was awaiting departure while the IndiGo flight had recently arrived when the contact occurred on the taxiway.
