The government and Opposition are locked in a deadlock in the Lok Sabha.
During the standoff, the Congress party recalled the 2004 incident when then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was stopped from speaking on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address.
On Thursday, the Motion of Thanks was passed by voice vote, but PM Narendra Modi did not speak in the House.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh shared an old video of Manmohan Singh’s 2005 speech, reminding how the BJP had earlier prevented him from replying in 2004.
Congress says history is being repeated and Parliament is not getting proper debate.
