A man claiming to be an IAS officer was caught in Bihar’s Saran district after reaching the District Magistrate’s office and introducing himself as a 2022-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. The accused, identified as Ritesh Kumar, failed to produce any valid identity proof when questioned by DM Vaibhav Srivastava. Suspicion grew during the interaction, following which he confessed that he was not an IAS officer. Police investigations revealed that he used the fake identity to impress people, visit government offices and collect money for getting work done. An FIR has been registered and legal action is underway.
