In an exclusive interview with India Today, Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, detailed the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Israel, scheduled for late February. Azar revealed that a significant outcome will be the signing of an updated security agreement designed to deepen defense cooperation in both government-to-government and private sectors, specifically targeting advanced technologies and AI applications. While acknowledging that a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is unlikely to be finalized during the trip, he expressed optimism for a conclusion by the end of the year. Addressing regional security, Azar stated, “We are not in the business of inviting unfriendly countries that are not committed to the fight against terrorism to be part of this force,” specifically naming Pakistan, Turkey, and Qatar as excluded from Gaza peace plan roles. He also emphasized the threat posed by Iran’s ballistic missile program, asserting that Israel will ensure Iran faces consequences if it does not accept limitations on its arsenal.
