During a recent India-US trade deal, the Office of the United States Trade Representative posted a map. In it, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin were shown as part of India. Pakistan criticized this, contacted the US, called it ‘incorrect’, and demanded a correction. The US then deleted the post. What does this incident reveal about America’s relations with India and Pakistan?
In Bangladesh, the election results are out. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has registered a massive victory, securing 209 seats out of 299, surpassing the majority mark of 150. The Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance of 11 parties has so far won 70 seats. After nearly 20 years, the BNP has formed the government. With this victory, it is almost certain that BNP chairman Tarique Rahman will become the next Prime Minister.
