A major political controversy has erupted in Bihar after a senior state IAS officer, Nilesh Ramchandra Deore, came under fire for travelling with his family on a chartered flight from New Delhi to Patna last year. The issue was first raised in the Bihar Legislative Assembly by an Opposition MLA, who questioned how an IAS officer could afford such a costly journey and whether public money was involved. The Bihar government defended the officer, saying the chartered aircraft was already returning to Patna after an official trip involving Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and that Deore and his family simply boarded the return flight.
