While the voice note was traced to a US-based number, authorities suspect the involvement of Harry Boxer, a known associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who previously issued threats against Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Rohit Shetty. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has officially contacted US officials to identify the individual behind the spoofed communication. This development follows earlier reports of extortion attempts, now confirmed to involve a specific high-value demand. Police are working to navigate the technical challenges posed by the use of a VPN to establish the sender’s exact identity and location as the probe into the underworld links intensifies.
