Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an ovation while addressing the Israeli Knesset, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel twice and the first to address its Parliament. Modi recalled his earlier visit as Chief Minister of Gujarat and emphasised that India and Israel stand strong against terror, listing Hamas as a terrorist organisation. He referenced the October 7, 2023 terror attack in Israel and the 26/11 terror attacks in India, where Israelis also lost their lives. Modi stressed that the India-Israel relationship has not realised its true potential and called for greater cooperation through a free trade agreement, bilateral trade deals, and collaboration in startups and innovation. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referred to Modi as his dear friend and brother. Yair Lapid, Israel’s opposition leader, joined the session when Modi began speaking.
