The Central Bureau of Investigation is set to challenge a Delhi court order before the Delhi High Court after Rouse Avenue Court discharged accused in the Delhi excise policy case. The court made serious observations against the CBI’s investigation, noting there was insufficient prima facie material to frame charges against the accused. The case involved allegations of corruption and criminal conspiracy in the formulation and execution of the Delhi excise policy, with claims of 100 crore rupees in kickbacks. The court questioned the CBI’s evidence and investigation methods, stating there was not enough material to even begin the trial. The case had led to the arrest of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who remained in custody for over a year before receiving bail from the Supreme Court.
