Iran has reportedly targeted a high-tech US early warning radar system in Qatar that is considered the “eyes and ears” of American missile defense in the Middle East. Satellite images suggest the radar may have suffered serious damage after the strike. Reports say a Shahed drone managed to reach the radar site near Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military base in the region. The AN/FPS-132 radar, worth about $1.1 billion, can detect ballistic missiles up to 5,000 km away. If damaged, it could weaken early warning capabilities across the Gulf and raise new security concerns for the US and its regional allies.
