Speculation is growing over the health of Iran’s new supreme leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, after the son of Iran’s president mentioned hearing news about him being injured. Mojtaba Khamenei, 56 years old and son of the late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has long been a secretive figure within Iran. His father and wife were both killed in an Israeli airstrike on February 28th, which started the ongoing conflict. Khamenei has not been seen in public since, nor has he given any statements since becoming supreme leader on Monday. In an overnight post on Telegram, Dr Yusuf Pezeshkian, son of president Masood Pezeshkian, wrote that he heard news about Mojtaba being injured. However, after contacting friends, Pezeshkian stated that Khamenei is healthy and there is no problem, though he did not elaborate further.
