Tensions around the Strait of Hormuz are escalating as the US-Israel-Iran conflict disrupts global energy routes. Reports say around 38 Indian-flagged commercial ships carrying oil and gas are currently stranded in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman due to security risks. More than 1,100 sailors are on board these vessels. Ship owners have requested protection from the Indian government, and New Delhi is reportedly considering sending Indian Navy warships to escort the vessels safely through the strait. Pakistan has already begun deploying its navy to escort commercial ships. Since a large portion of India’s oil and LPG imports pass through Hormuz, the situation could impact India’s energy security.
