The ongoing Middle East war between the United States, Israel, and Iran is now impacting countries far beyond the region. As crude oil prices cross $100 per barrel and concerns grow over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, Pakistan has announced major fuel-saving measures. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said government employees will work only four days a week, many workers will shift to work-from-home, and schools will remain closed for two weeks. Fuel supplies for government vehicles will also be reduced. Petrol prices have been increased sharply, while ministers’ salaries are being cut. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has also shut schools and several fertilizer factories to conserve energy.
