On Day 18 of the West Asia conflict, Israel has claimed the assassination of Ali Larijani, Iran’s National Security Council Secretary and a key figure in Tehran’s inner circle, alongside the commander of the Basij forces. Iran has countered by releasing a handwritten note attributed to Larijani, casting doubt on the Israeli claims, though the note does not directly address the allegations. Israel maintains it has eliminated multiple top Iranian military and defence leaders, including Revolutionary Guard commanders and intelligence chiefs. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has criticised NATO allies for refusing to deploy forces in the Strait of Hormuz, stating America does not need their assistance. Trump claimed Iran’s navy, air force, and radar systems have been decimated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, condemning attacks on the UAE and stressing the importance of safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
