In retaliation for the killing of its security chief Ali Larajani and other top commanders, Iran has launched fresh attacks on Israel and vowed further retribution. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted that the ‘cowardly assassination’ will be severely punished and Iran’s path will continue with stronger resolve. Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned that criminals will pay soon, adding that every drop of blood has a price. Tehran has threatened to attack oil and gas facilities in the Gulf region, naming five facilities in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar. The UAE responded urging Iran to adhere to international law, cautioning that such attacks pose serious threats to global energy security. Despite significant losses in leadership, Iran’s power structure remains intact with the IRGC as its backbone. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called for a new protocol for Hormuz after the war, insisting navigation must suit Iran’s interests, stating Tehran will not allow enemies to use its waterway.
