In a major escalation of the war that has entered its 23rd day, an Iranian missile struck Israel’s nuclear town of Dimona, injuring 47 people. Israel’s Iron Dome air defence system failed to intercept the missile, which hit a building in the area. The International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed that there has been no radiation leak and no damage to the nuclear plant in Dimona. The attack is seen as a retaliatory strike after the United States hit Iran’s nuclear hub in Natanz. The Israeli Defense Forces claim they did not conduct the strike on the Natanz enrichment facility but cannot comment on American activities. The IDF has also claimed widespread strikes overnight in Iran, targeting sites making ballistic missile components and missile fuel. The attack marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.
