The Indian government has privately requested smartphone manufacturers like Apple and Samsung to pre-install the Aadhaar app on all new phones. However, the smartphone companies have opposed this move. This issue has come up just a few weeks after Apple and other companies resisted a similar directive to mandatorily include the Sanchar Saathi app.
The Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) busted a fake currency racket and arrested 7 people, recovering counterfeit notes worth ₹2.38 crore in face value. Among those arrested is self-proclaimed spiritual leader Pradeep Jotangiya from Surat. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they obtained the fake notes from Shri Satyam Yog Foundation in Kamrej, Surat.
In Nashik, Maharashtra, police arrested Ashok Kharat, alias ‘Captain Kharat’, who posed as an astrologer and ‘godman’. He faces serious charges of drugging a woman and repeatedly raping her over a long period, along with exploiting several other women. During a raid at his ‘Oaks Property Dealer’ office, police recovered a pen drive containing 58 obscene video clips. There is suspicion that several high-profile women and celebrities may be featured in them.
