Actor Arjun Rampal shared a deeply personal account of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks at the India Today group’s Hello Awards, while discussing his film Dhurandhar. Rampal revealed he was at the Four Seasons hotel on November 26, 2008, his birthday, when the attacks began. He and his friends were preparing to celebrate at the Taj hotel when the first bomb exploded near Mahim. Within minutes, they received calls warning them about violence in Colaba, and the hotel was cordoned off. Rampal spent his birthday witnessing the horror of the attacks unfold, and described how the experience affected him so deeply that he had to stop his car multiple times the next morning. When director Aditya Dhar narrated the 26/11 scene from Durandar to him, Rampal said he knew he was ‘going to have my revenge,’ which he fulfilled through the film. He also apologised for abusing India in the movie, asserting he is ‘a patriot at heart.’
