Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a cabinet committee on security meeting to address the war’s impact on India, with crude and energy supplies stuck in Hormuz being a major concern. The Prime Minister issued directives emphasising a citizen-first approach, stating the government must minimise war impact on citizens and ensure the least inconvenience to people. He ordered zero tolerance for hoarding and black marketing, calling for a whole-of-government approach to the crisis. Modi instructed all government arms to work together and stay engaged with industry and key sectors, while maintaining strong coordination with state governments. The meeting, attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other senior officials, discussed short, medium and long-term measures to ensure continuity and availability of essential needs. Directions were given for the formation of a group of ministers and secretaries. The Cabinet Secretary presented on the global situation and government planning.
