The Indian Navy has launched Operation Urja Suraksha, deploying more than five warships around the Strait of Hormuz to escort cargo ships carrying vital energy supplies to India. Indian LPG carriers Findas and Jagvasans have successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and are heading towards India under Navy escort. The vessels are carrying a combined cargo of around 92,000 tonnes of LPG and are expected to reach Indian ports by March 26 or 27. The Navy has already escorted several ships, including LPG carriers Sivalik and Nandadevi, and crude oil tanker Jagvasandh. The operation aims to protect India’s energy security, with more than 20 India-bound vessels requiring safe passage, including energy-critical ships carrying LNG, LPG, and crude oil. The Navy is working closely with various agencies, including the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, to ensure the safe passage of vital energy supplies.
