India’s energy giant Reliance Industries has reportedly purchased 5 million barrels of crude oil from Iran after the United States granted a temporary sanctions waiver. According to sources, this marks India’s first major Iranian oil purchase since 2019, when imports were halted due to US sanctions. The deal was made possible after Washington allowed a 30-day window for countries to buy Iranian oil already at sea, aiming to ease global supply shortages.
