Petrol Pumps across several cities in India saw vehicle-owners lined up after social media fueled rumors of petrol and diesel shortage in these cities. Panic buying led to exhaustion of stock and pumps had to shut down, further escalating fears that shortage of fuel was upon the people. Authorities have maintained there is, in fact, no shortage and people should refrain from sharing unfound reports.
