The Lallantop Show, Episode no. 1975| 27 March 2026
In today’s LT show, Siddhant is discussing the following news:
In today’s show, we will discuss the government’s decision to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹10 per litre. The excise duty on petrol has been reduced from ₹13 to ₹3 per litre, while on diesel it has been slashed from ₹10 to zero. This duty cut has come into immediate effect. After the reduction in excise duty, will the prices of petrol and diesel also come down? We will discuss this issue in detail in today’s show.
On one hand, the government is saying that the country has sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel, and the crude oil reserves can cover any shortage for several days. Then why are long queues suddenly visible at petrol pumps? Is this entire problem being caused by the government oil companies? Reports suggest that all government oil companies have stopped supplying petrol and diesel to pumps on credit. Is this the reason behind the queues?
According to a report by the Parliamentary Committee, out of 754 commercial aircraft audited between January 2025 and February 2026, 377 aircraft — that is 50% — were found to have technical defects. The maximum issues were found in Indigo aircraft. Citing safety concerns, the panel has demanded major improvements in the country’s aviation safety system.
