Mohammed Shami made a sensational return to the Indian side in the final over of the T20 World Cup match between India and Australia on Monday, 17 October. Playing at the Gabba in Brisbane, Shami had not taken any part in the match prior to the final over the game in the second innings. Shami in his very first over of the game, took three wickets of India’s four. Shami dismissed Pat Cummins, Josh Inglis and Kane Richardson, while Ashton Agar was run out by a combined effort of Dinesh Karthik and the bowler himself. Speaking after the game, Rohit said that this was always the plan and they wanted to give Shami the final over of the match to test him out in those specific situations.
