केरल में वकील-अभिनेता और विश्वविद्यालय के पूर्व प्रो-वाइस चांसलर ने हाल में दोबारा निकाह किया। लगभग तीस साल पहले उन्होंने पहली बार निकाह किया था। सी. शुक्कुर ने एक अच्छी वजह से अपनी पत्नी शीना से स्पेशल मैरेज एक्ट के तहत दोबारा निकाह किया। इस जोड़े ने 1991 में मुस्लिम इन्हेरिटेंस लॉ के तहत निकाह किया था। मुस्लिम कानून के मुताबिक पुरुष उत्तराधिकारी के अभाव में बेटियों को पिता की संपत्ति का सिर्फ दो-तिहाई हिस्सा मिलता है। बाकी संपत्ति पिता के भाइयों को मिलती है। लिहाजा दंपति ने पूरी संपत्ति बेटियों के पास ही रहे ये सुनिश्चित करने के लिए दोबारा निकाह किया।

According to Muslim law, daughters get only two-thirds of the father’s property in the absence of a male heir. The rest of the property goes to the father’s brothers. So the couple remarried to make sure that all the property remains with their 3 daughters.
