Several medicines including Insulin, Anesthesia, Viagra, Penicillin, Quinine etc are considered as ‘accidental medical discoveries’ as they were invented without any intension. Alexander Fleming who had returned from a vacation in the year 1928 noticed that his Petri dishes had developed some kind of substance that had prevented the bacteria to grow on them. He found that the substance had antibacterial properties which lead to the discovery of the antibiotic medicine, Penicillin.
