This was the defeat which opened the way for the English’s invasion in India. Ahmad Shah Abdali planned to attack Marathas, when they were busy at the south where Nizam was a challenge for them. This proved a big mistake of Marathas to fight at two ends simultaneously. Cold weather, blockage of arms and ration supply also were the countable reasons due to which Marathas couldn’t resist Afganis.
