Amid COVID-19 lockdown in India, DD National has started re-telecasting the Indian mythological epic show of Ramanand Sagar, Ramayana, which aired during 1987-1988. ‘Ramayana’ was a television adaptation of the ancient Hindu epic and is based on Valmiki’s Ramayan and Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas. The epic TV serial ‘Ramayana’ starred Arun Govil as Rama, Deepika Chikhlia as Sita, Sunil Lahri as Lakshman and Arvind Trivedi as Ravana.

We all are aware of how Ravana abducted Sita. The original story is the same everywhere. The well-known story depicts that Sita was alone in the cottage in the forest when Ravana changed his disguise and asked for alms by giving Sita a variety of temptations. When Sita crossed the Lakshman-Rekha and did not budge, she was forcibly taken by Ravana. But we, at The Lallantop, have brought to you another story of the abduction of Sita which is different from both Tulsidas and Valmiki’s Ramayana.

Watch the video by the Editor of ‘The Lallantop’ Saurabh Dwivedi to know how this story of ‘Sitaharan’ is completely different from Tulsidas and Valmiki’s Ramayana.
