Tarikh is a daily program in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons of History in Hindi. In this edition Tarikh Nikhil talks about the construction of old parliament building in 1921.This story begins in the year 1911, when British officers were scared of the Swadeshi movement after the partition of Bengal. It was decided to make Delhi the capital instead of Calcutta (Kolkata). Two friends Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker got responsibility of giving Delhi the shape of a capital. But by the time Rashtrapati Bhavan, Secretariat and Parliament buildings were completed, their relationship had deteriorated badly. Lutyens later even said that bekar built the Secretariat building in such a way that people will always curse it. On what issue did these two fight? We will also know in today’s episode how the Parliament House was completed in January 1927.
