मध्य प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव में भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने शुरू से ही मुख्यमंत्री के चेहरे को जनता के सामने नहीं रखा, जबकि कांग्रेस शुरू से ही कमलनाथ को मुख्यमंत्री के चेहरे के रूप में प्रोजेक्ट कर रही थी. कांग्रेस को चुनावी परिणाम में मायूसी हाथ लगी, जबकि भारतीय जनता पार्टी की बल्ले बल्ले हो गई. अब मुख्यमंत्री का चेहरा विधायक दल द्वारा तय किया जाएगा. इस पूरी प्रक्रिया में पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री कमलनाथ मौन हैं. मध्य प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव में बीजपी ने 230 सीटों में से 163 सीटों पर शानदार जीत दर्ज की, वहीं मुख्य विपक्षी कांग्रेस महज 66 सीटों पर हार मध्य प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव 2023, लोकसभा चुनाव के लिए सेमीफाइनल मुकाबला माना जा रहा था. एमपी विधानसभा चुनाव भारतीय जनता पार्टी के कापी फायदेमंद साबित हुआ. भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने कई ऐसे महत्तवपूर्ण कदम उठाए जिसका फायदा चुनावी परिणाम में मिला. इनमें से सबसे महत्वपूर्ण ये कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने मुख्यमंत्री चेहरे के रुप में किसी को प्रोजेक्ट नहीं किया. हालांकि इस पर चुनाव परिणामों के बाद भी सस्पेंस बरकरार है. बीजेपी ने पूरा विधानसभा चुनाव सीएम शिवराज या किसी अन्य की जगह प्रधानमंत्री के चेहरे को आगे रखकर लड़ी. इसका फायदा बीजेपी को उम्मीद से कहीं ज्यादा मिला.
