The eagerly awaited decision in the disqualification case of Shiv Sena MLAs including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde may end today. Speaker Rahul Narvekar can give the verdict this evening on the disqualification petition of MLAs which started in May. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction is hopeful that the decision will be in their favor, while the Uddhav Thackeray faction is making preparations for the decision not to be in their favour. The matter arose after the split of Maha Vikas Aghadi ally Shiv Sena in June 2022, due to which the Uddhav Thackeray-led government fell and Eknath Shinde was appointed as the new Chief Minister of the new government formed with the support of BJP. After that political earthquake, both factions of Shiv Sena had filed cross-petitions demanding action against each other’s MLAs under anti-defection laws, violation of whip etc. Meanwhile, the Election Commission had recognized the Shinde group and allotted it the name Shiv Sena and the bow and arrow election symbol, while the Thackeray-led faction was named Shiv Sena-Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray and given the burning torch election symbol. यह मामला जून 2022 में महा विकास अघाडी सहयोगी शिवसेना के विभाजन के बाद उठा, जिसके कारण उद्धव ठाकरे के नेतृत्व वाली सरकार गिर गई और एकनाथ शिंदे को बीजेपी के सहयोग से बनी नई सरकार के नए मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया. उस राजनीतिक भूचाल के बाद शिवसेना के दोनों गुटों ने दल-बदल विरोधी कानूनों, व्हिप का उल्लंघन आदि के तहत एक-दूसरे के विधायकों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की मांग करते हुए क्रॉस-याचिकाएं दायर की थीं. इस बीच, चुनाव आयोग ने शिंदे समूह को मान्यता दी थी और उसे शिवसेना का नाम और तीर-धनुष चुनाव चिह्न आवंटित किया था, जबकि ठाकरे के नेतृत्व वाले गुट को शिव सेना-उद्धव बालासाहेब ठाकरे नाम दिया गया था और जलती मशाल चुनाव चिह्न दिया गया था.
