After Gaza officials claimed 104 Palestinians were killed in Israeli fire while waiting for aid, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Thursday said the Palestinians died as a result of “overcrowding and trampling”.
The IDF also released aerial footage of Palestinians surrounding trucks bringing humanitarian aid into the northern Gaza Strip on social media platform X.
A spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said many of the dead were crushed by the trucks themselves.
one of the biggest casualty of this incident is going to be the anticipated ceasefire deal that was expected to be agreed upon by the holy month of Ramzan. But now it doesn’t seem likely….US President Joe Biden said a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza was now unlikely to happen by Monday, the timeline that he had predicted earlier this week.
Asked by reporters Thursday whether he expected that to happen, Biden said that he had been speaking to regional leaders about a ceasefire.
