In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks the Laxmanpur Bathe massacre. Laxmanpur Bathe is a village in Arwal District in Southwestern Bihar. On 1 December 1997, 58 scheduled caste people were allegedly killed by members of the Ranvir Sena in retaliation for the Bara massacre in which 37 upper castes were killed in 1992. This was a well-planned operation, in which about firearm carrying 100 Militants entered the Lakshmanpur Bathe Village at around 11 pm.
After forcing their way into huts by breaking open the doors, They fired at people who were asleep. The attack lasted more than three hours. Several Pregnant women were killed in this massacre including the youngest victim that was a one-year-old child. In 2013 Patna High Court acquitted all 26 accused persons, due to supposed lack of evidence. Watch Complete Video to know the full story.
