A tragic incident occurred during the Jivitputrika (Jitiya) festival in Bihar, where at least 46 people, including 37 children, lost their lives while taking ritual dips in rivers and ponds. The incident took place on September 25 across 15 districts of the state. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced an ex-gratia of ₹4 lakh for the families of the deceased.
