A Kolkata hospital, JN Ray Hospital, has announced that is going to refuse to treat Bangladeshi patients amid rising tensions over alleged desecration of the Indian flag in Bangladesh. This decision, announced by director Subhranshu Bhakt, is framed as a protest against perceived insults towards India and the ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. This announcement coincided with India’s demand for a “fair and transparent trial” for Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, arrested on treason charges in Bangladesh. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed concerns over attacks on Hindus and minorities in the neighboring country. The situation escalated as protests erupted following Das’s arrest.
